Strange Lights Light Up South Florida Night Sky

The meteor phenomenon that's apparently sweeping the globe has made it to Florida.

Coast Guard stations from Jacksonville to Key West were inundated with calls about strange lights popping up and quickly vanishing in the sky.

Several South Florida witnesses described it as a bright red-orange fireball that disappeared after a few seconds.

The Coast Guard described it as a meteor shower, but some scientists believe it may just have been a lone errant cosmic object.

Unlike last week's incident in Russia, the object did not make impact with the earth.
