A pair of Westchester Babe Ruth all-star teams are having success in their respective Pacific Southwest Regional tournaments.
The Westchester 15-year-old all-stars defeated Tucson 11-9 in the semifinals Tuesday night in Tucson, Ariz., and advance to the final against Tri-Valley of Northern California today.
The Westchester 14-year-old all-stars defeated Hamilton, Arizona 12-3 on Tuesday in Surprise, Ariz., to move to 2-1 in pool play of the Pacific Southwest Regionals. Westchester opened the tournament on Monday with two games, losing to Hawaii 6-0 before defeating Fallon, Nevada 22-3.
Westchester had a nine-run first inning against Fallon, scoring eight runs before an out was recorded. Kane Kutler's two-run single sparked the inning.
Later, Nolan Martinez homered, Dailin Lee tripled and had an inside-the-park home run, Aaron Greenfield had a three-run home run and Eli Saucedo had a two-run single.
,The Redondo Beach Little League 11-year-old All-Stars had a fine playoff run, winning the district tournament and California Section 4 by beating Westchester in the championship game. Redondo Beach went to the state division tournament in Lancaster, where they finished in fifth place.
